Blackberry App World
In this world of high-tech gadgets, everyone wants to innovate the cutting edge. Some are left to battle it out after the innovation by providing a ME TOO service. Apple clearly hit a home run with the iPhone applications store, now RIM wants in on some of that action leveraging their massive 35% market share. After announcing their intention to create the Blackberry App World, RIM spent several months putting it all together. After all of the time they have had to work on this store, one would think that they would have thought it through completely.
In this day and age, what company would make the faux pas of writing a windows only application for this? Leave it to RIM. Sure you can install it from your phone directly, that’s the work around, but why would you limit yourself to a single platform? You can’t even visit the Web site for the acutal download of the App World application without using windows Internet Explorer. Really RIM? Get your head out of the sand! Wake up to the new world! You can’t tell me that it is so much easier to just write it for windows, I am a developer too and I know better. Wake up, you’re not amounting to anything great still. If I hadn’t decided to start looking into Blackberry apps I wouldn’t have even known the store was open.
